    Parent & Caregiver Workshops

Through our Bridge to Tomorrow™ series and Critical Care Planning support, Julia Holman, End-of-Life Practitioner (ELP), helps families take the first steps in preparing for the unexpected.

It begins with a question no parent or caregiver ever wants to ask — What would happen if I couldn't be there tomorrow?

These conversations are hard, but they are acts of love. Through gentle guidance, we help families speak the words that feel impossible, honor the fears they carry, and build a future of care and protection for the ones they love most.

The Role of an End-of-Life Practitioner

An End-of-Life Practitioner (EOLP) provides compassionate support, guidance, and care to individuals and their families during the final stages of life.

The role is deeply holistic, focusing on the emotional, spiritual, and practical aspects of dying. An EOLP works closely with those nearing the end of life, as well as their loved ones, to ensure that their final days are approached with comfort, dignity, and meaning — honoring each person's unique journey.

  • An EOLP offers a safe space for individuals and their families to express their fears, hopes, and concerns. They may provide counseling, spiritual care, and help in processing the emotions associated with dying and loss.

  • EOLPs assist with the practical aspects of end-of-life planning, including advance directives, living wills, and other important documents that ensure a person's wishes are respected.

  • EOLP's work alongside healthcare professionals, hospices, and caregivers to ensure that all end-of-life preferences—such as medical treatments, pain management, and comfort measures—are honored.

  • EOLP's support and educate families on what to expect during the final stages of life, preparing them for both the emotional and physical changes that may occur. This also includes providing or locating resources to support the family and caregivers.

How an End-of-Life Practitioner Supports the Journey

  • An EOLP tailors their support to meet the unique needs and desires of the individual and their family, ensuring that the end-of-life experience aligns with their values and wishes.

  • By focusing on comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being, EOLPs help individuals experience a higher quality of life in their final days, reducing anxiety and enhancing peace.

  • Knowing that an experienced professional is guiding them through the end-of-life process brings peace of mind to both the dying person and their loved ones. It relieves the burden of decision-making during an emotionally challenging time.

  • EOLPs provide crucial support for families, helping them navigate their grief, manage their stress, and better understand the dying process. This can strengthen family bonds and help them cherish their remaining time together.
